Second-generation idol Kim Jaejoong, formerly of TVXQ and JYJ, is facing an unexpected controversy after his sister, Jessica Young, was accused of bullying and assaulting a Taiwanese mother and her three-year-old child while the two were studying at the same language school in the Philippines. According to the accusations circulating online, Young allegedly removed the child from a classroom without permission, had staff carry the child out, then repeatedly bumped into the mother while insulting her before the confrontation escalated into a physical assault.
One netizen sharing the story claimed the incident may have been racially motivated, adding another layer to the backlash spreading online. Because of Young’s connection to Jaejoong, several posts have directly invoked his name and fame in an effort to pressure her into publicly addressing the accusations, with one widely shared post stating they had “no choice but to keep bringing attention to this” using his platform until she takes responsibility.
