CLOSE YOUR EYES’ Jakarta stop on their “BEYOND YOUR EYES” world tour was officially cancelled August 26th, just four days before the show. It’s not the group’s first cancellation in Indonesia this run, and the reasoning behind it stretches well beyond a typical scheduling issue.

The Official Reason
Promoter Maryhouse Media cited safety and security considerations, pointing to official risk assessments around heightened security, road closures, and movement restrictions near Senayan and Indonesia’s Parliament building during the week of the show, which was set to take place at Hall Basket Senayan Jakarta.

What’s Actually Happening In Indonesia
The unrest traces back to a wave of anti-government protests that began in 2025 over lawmaker pay and benefits, escalating further after a police vehicle killed a motorcycle taxi driver during a demonstration. Protests have continued into 2026, with more recent unrest tied to public anger over the government’s handling of natural disaster response. It’s serious enough that Indonesia’s own president postponed international travel earlier in the unrest to stay focused on the situation at home.

Not An Isolated Incident
This is actually the second Indonesian date CLOSE YOUR EYES has lost this tour, following an earlier Surabaya cancellation about two weeks prior. The group has also had at least one other Southeast Asian stop, in Kuala Lumpur, cancelled earlier this year for similar “local circumstances.”
[MY TAKE]
Some people think K-pop tours should build in more flexibility when touring countries dealing with political instability, but honestly, politics is inevitable. It’s unfortunately just a risk that comes with touring globally.
